$34.95

This catalog  - and exhibition of the same name, which was on view from October 7 - December 31, 2017 - celebrates the transformational gift from Dr. Michael L Nieland to The Westmoreland Museum of American Art of fifty-seven late nineteenth and early twentieth century figurative sculptures.  Thirty-four artists, including such notable figures as Paul Wayland Bartlett, John Talbott Donoghue, Harriet Whitney Frishmuth, Walker Kirtland Hancock, Malvina Hofmann, Mario Korbel, Boris Lovet-Lorski, Frederick William MacMonnies, Adolph Alexander Weinman, and twenty-five lesser known artists not only add new names to the permanent collection but significantly enrich and add greater depth to the Museum's sculpture holdings.  With works ranging from six to nearly sixty inches in height, this stunning collection provides diversity in the arena of American figurative sculpture.  Each sculpture is illustrated in full color and the checklist includes all signatures and foundry marks found on each piece.  The catalog is 252 pages and includes 109 color plates, selected bibliography and index of artists.
